Educational Robotics transforms learning at Avant Garde Academy

Educational robotics incorporates science, technology, engineering, math and computer science. By introducing robotics in the curriculum, students can develop their critical thinking and creativity skills. Educational robots can serve various purposes in enhancing and transforming learning experiences. They promote active engagement, problem-solving, and collaboration among students. In addition, educational robots help students develop one of the basic cognitive skills of mathematical thinking, computational thinking. As part of the curriculum, educational robots are excellent for teaching students fundamental engineering design and programming skills while allowing them to see and interpret code results in real time.

Educational robotics can also assist with the development of social skills. Robots do only what they are taught to do. This encourages students to explain concepts to one another, teach the robot, and thereby reinforce their own understanding. As a result, students will increase literacy, and also develop professional leadership skills such as planning, teamwork, dedication, and perseverance.

 

Educational robotics truly transforms learning experiences, equipping students with valuable skills for their future careers, and supporting diverse learners. AGA’s Robotics Team, Sharkside of the Moon, consisting of Isabella Abreu, Emily Braun, Yuna Paton, Victor Morozov and Yojhan
Padilla, and led by Mr. Manley recently competed at the Ramblewood Qualifying Tournament.

 

The team placed 1st in all 4 judging categories, garnering them the 1st Place Champions Award as well as the Robot Performance Award. They also won a bid to compete at the South Florida State Robotics Championship being held on Feb. 17th at Palm Beach Gardens High School. We are so proud and excited for our students!
