At Swostishree Gurukul IB Continuum School, we believe that education extends beyond academic learning. It is about nurturing compassionate, responsible, and action-oriented individuals who use their knowledge and values to make a positive difference in the world.
With this vision in mind, the Swostishree Students’ Council successfully initiated and organized a Charity Lunch, bringing together learners, teachers, parents, and the wider school community for a meaningful cause. More than a fundraising event, the Charity Lunch became a powerful demonstration of empathy, service, and student leadership. Every contribution, regardless of its size, reflected a collective commitment to supporting families affected by the recent devastating floods.
The initiative provided learners with an authentic opportunity to put their values into practice. Through planning, organizing, and participating in the event, students experienced firsthand the importance of compassion, responsibility, collaboration, and community engagement. The Charity Lunch served as a real-life lesson in how small actions, when united by a shared purpose, can create a meaningful impact.
The funds raised through the event were transformed into direct relief support for flood-affected families in Nuwakot. Within days of the fundraising effort, members of the Swostishree community delivered essential relief materials, including rice, lentils, cooking oil, salt, beaten rice, instant noodles, and other basic necessities, to families residing in temporary holding centers.
This relief initiative demonstrated the school’s commitment to service and social responsibility while reinforcing the values of the IB Learner Profile. Learners witnessed how caring actions can contribute to the well-being of others and how communities can come together in times of need to offer hope and support.
