El pasado 13 de octubre, el Colegio Internacional Casa Azul convirtió a ese compañero de aprendizajes en protagonista, celebrando el Día del Error. Lejos de concebirlo como un obstáculo, desde el centro se abordó a través de la educación emocional, con reflexión, creatividad y autoconocimiento.
El Día del Error se planteó como una experiencia transversal en todas las etapas, desde Infantil hasta Bachillerato, orientada a fortalecer la resiliencia cognitiva y emocional. En Educación Infantil, los cuentos The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes y The Dot sirvieron como punto de partida para reflexionar en asamblea sobre la aceptación del fallo, la gestión de la frustración y el valor de volver a intentarlo. Las ideas surgidas se plasmaron en dibujos y conversaciones donde el alumnado, a pesar de su corta edad, aprendió a redefinir el significado de equivocarse.
En Educación Primaria, las actividades involucraron tanto al alumnado como a las familias, dos piezas complementarias del engranaje educativo que mima el Colegio Casa Azul. A través de la propuesta “Cuenta un error”, padres y madres compartieron experiencias personales sobre cómo sus propios tropiezos se transformaron en aprendizajes, desmitificando el error como sinónimo de fracaso y mostrándolo como parte del proceso vital. De esta manera, nuestro alumnado de Primaria consiguió reconciliarse con el error y convertirlo en maestro.
Una de las iniciativas más representativas fue el Mural del Error y la Resiliencia, diseñado conjuntamente por Primaria y Secundaria en las áreas de Educación Artística y Emocional. En el mural se representaba los dos hemisferios del cerebro: uno gris, asociado al área racional y de pensamiento autocrítico, con frases como “Soy tonto” o “Siempre me equivoco”; y otro colorido, símbolo de ese área más creativa y emocional acompañada de lenguaje positivo, con mensajes como “Sigo aprendiendo”, “Yo puedo” o “Vuelvo a intentarlo”. Esta metáfora visual materializó de forma colectiva el paso de la autocrítica destructiva a la superación y el poder del lenguaje positivo.
En Secundaria y Bachillerato, se ofrecieron sesiones de coaching dirigidas por el Instituto Canario de Coaching que se centraron en la gestión del error. A través de dinámicas de introspección, el alumnado exploró la relación entre error, creatividad y perseverancia, comprendiendo que el verdadero aprendizaje en la vida requiere valentía, pensamiento crítico y capacidad de adaptación.
El Día del Error se convirtió en una invitación colectiva a reenfocar el concepto. Desde una mirada pedagógica, donde el error se revela como un catalizador del pensamiento crítico y un puente hacia la mentalidad de crecimiento, destrezas imprescindibles en la educación del siglo XXI.
En el Colegio Internacional Casa Azul, celebrar el error es celebrar la valentía de aprender y de permitir equivocarnos, teniendo la certeza de que cada intento suma. Porque solo quien se permite fallar, se permite también evolucionar.
Failure Day: All Are Welcome at Casa Azul International School
On 13th October, Casa Azul International School turned one of learning’s most loyal companions the mistake, into the protagonist of the day, celebrating Failure Day. Far from being seen as an obstacle, mistakes were approached through emotional education, inviting reflection, resilience and self-awareness.
Failure Day was designed as a cross-curricular experience across all educational stages, from Early Years to Bachelor, aimed at strengthening both cognitive and emotional resilience. In the Early Years, the stories The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes and The Dot served as starting points for class assemblies where children reflected on accepting mistakes, managing frustration and valuing the courage to try again. These reflections were later expressed through drawings and discussions, in which even the youngest pupils learned to redefine what it means to make a mistake.
In Primary Education, the activities brought together pupils and families, two complementary pieces of the educational framework that Casa Azul cares for so diligently. Through the initiative “Share a Mistake”, parents shared personal experiences of how their own stumbles had transformed into lessons learned, helping to demystify error as a synonym for failure and instead presenting it as a natural part of life’s process. In doing so, our Primary pupils learned to reconcile with mistakes and turn them into teachers.
One of the most emblematic initiatives was the Mural of Mistakes and Resilience, jointly created by Primary and Secondary students within the areas of Artistic and Emotional Education. The mural depicted the two hemispheres of the brain: one grey, representing the rational and self-critical side, featuring thoughts such as “I’m not good enough” or “I always get it wrong”; and the other, full of colour, symbolising the creative and emotional sphere, accompanied by positive messages such as “I’m still learning”, “I can do it” and “I’ll try again”. This visual metaphor embodied the shift from destructive self-criticism to self-empowerment and the strength of positive language.
In Secondary and Bachelor, students participated in coaching sessions led by the Instituto Canario de Coaching, focused on managing mistakes as opportunities for self-discovery. Through reflective and introspective activities, they explored the relationship between error, creativity and perseverance, understanding that true learning in life requires courage, critical thinking and adaptability.
Mistake Day became a collective invitation to reframe the concept of error. From a pedagogical perspective, mistakes reveal themselves as catalysts for critical thinking and bridges towards a growth mindset, essential skills for education in the 21st century.
At Casa Azul International School, to celebrate mistakes is to celebrate the courage to learn ,the honesty to see oneself as a learner in progress, and the conviction that every attempt counts. Because only those who allow themselves to fail, allow themselves to evolve.
