EcoKids Reporters Newsletter! – Lyceo Hapatia

International Schools Association

Hello everyone! We are excited to share with you the recycling project carried out by our first-grade students. Over the past few weeks, our EcoKids have become true champions of the environment, and they are ready to spread their enthusiasm with you!

Our recycling project began with the simple question: “How can we teach older students to recycle?” The children immersed themselves in research about the meaning of the different color codes of the trash cans at the school.

The objective was to identify what they had to throw in each can and then find a way to teach older students the same.Armed with knowledge and determination, our EcoKids brought to the school different reused materials of clean trash examples. They shared with their classmates the trash they brought. Then they created three big groups, each with a different color code. The green group was in charge of the organic waste. The White group was usable waste and the black group was unusable waste. From how to properly separate recyclables to creating works of art using reused materials, our students demonstrated creativity and commitment with every step. They prepared an oral presentation to show all the school members what they did.

Additionally, our EcoKids decided to place their posters throughout the school, reminding everyone of the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling in our daily lives. But the impact of our project does not stop here. Our students are creating some news videos to share their knowledge with their families and friends outside of school! We are incredibly proud of our EcoKids Reporters and their dedication to making the world a cleaner, more sustainable place. Thank you for being part of our journey towards a greener, brighter future!

See you soon!
