ISA and The Global Goals

Working together we can make this happen.

ISA 65 years ago was founded to help build a better world by promoting international education. And now ISA can be part of The Global Goals initiative. In, September of 2015 World Leaders announced their commitment to helping the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. 17 goals to achieve 3 extraordinary things in the next 15 years. End extreme poverty. Fight inequality and injustice. Fix climate change. These goals are about making our world better and we should encourage our students to become the generation that changes the world. You will find some great articles in this issue that support these goals.

Happy 65th Anniversary!!

“UNESCO’S first education seminar”, in 1947, was the theme of education for international understanding.

And by 1951, a small group of Head teachers volunteered to form the Conference of Internationally Minded Schools. In the same year, with UNESCO backing together with the support of staff, parents and governors of the International School of Geneva and the United Nations International School in New York, the International Schools Association (ISA) was founded. ISA was the first educational, nongovernmental organization (NGO) to have, and to continue to have, consultative status at UNESCO. ISA’s member schools and its committed Board of Directors have made it possible for ISA to celebrate its 65th Anniversary. They have been intense years of promoting international understanding in schools, preparing conferences, Youth Leadership Encounters and creating a stronger network of like-minded schools. Today ISA is working towards another 65 years of commitment and dedication to help further world peace and international understanding through education.
