The Youth Leadership Encounter was organised by the ISA and StJohn’s School, Sidmouth, it provided an opportunity for youngpeople to meet and learn about each other’s cultures, whilstinvestigating a topic of huge global significance. This year’s topicwas ‘Worldwide Migration’. The YLE encourages students toparticipate actively in a series of lectures, debates and workshopson the issue. In addition to the formal conference programme, theYLE allows participants to form strong bonds with students fromall around the world through a busy, but fun, schedule of extracurricularactivities. The event will included two days’ stay inLondon with sightseeing, followed by a conference and workshopswhich took place in the beautiful seaside town of Sidmouth at St John’s School. The week culminated in a camping trip to RiverDart Country Park.
One of ISA’s objectives is to further world peace and international understanding through education. Promoting international understanding in schools worldwide allow children to build bridges between different cultures and help them become responsible future global leaders. We are very excited that we can count on 3 new school members that will help ISA reach these objectives.
Education is the best instrument to build a better world. Living in peace is achieved by working together and celebrating our cultural diversity and similarity.
