El pasado 28 de febrero, el alumnado del Colegio Internacional Casa Azul participó con entusiasmo en la First Lego League Canarias, un encuentro que reunió a 75 equipos de todo el archipiélago en el emblemático Aulario César Manrique de la Universidad de La Laguna.
El centro estuvo representado en dos categorías, Explorer y Challenge, enfrentándose a un exigente proceso de evaluación basado en tres pilares fundamentales: el proyecto de innovación, el juego del robot y los valores FIRST LEGO League. Más allá de la competición, este tipo de experiencias suponen una oportunidad única para que el alumnado desarrolle competencias clave del siglo XXI.
La participación en retos de robótica y programación impulsa el aprendizaje STEAM, pero, sobre todo, fortalece habilidades esenciales como el pensamiento crítico, la resolución de problemas, la comunicación efectiva y el trabajo en equipo. A lo largo de la jornada, los estudiantes demostraron una notable capacidad de adaptación, creatividad y liderazgo, poniendo en práctica valores como el respeto, la cooperación y el espíritu de superación.
Los resultados obtenidos reflejan tanto el esfuerzo como el compromiso del alumnado:
- En la categoría Challenge, el equipo fue galardonado con el premio al Mejor Diseño del Robot, alcanzando además un meritorio 5º puesto en la clasificación general.
- En la categoría Explorer, los más jóvenes destacaron con el premio “Pequeños Creativos” y el reconocimiento a los “Core Values”, subrayando su excelente trabajo en equipo y su actitud colaborativa.
Este logro no solo pone en valor la preparación técnica del alumnado, sino también su crecimiento personal. La FIRST LEGO League se consolida así como un entorno educativo donde aprender haciendo, compartir ideas y enfrentarse a desafíos reales, preparando a los estudiantes para un futuro en el que la innovación y las habilidades humanas serán igualmente imprescindibles.
Casa Azul International School at the FIRST LEGO League Canarias: innovation, values and STEAM talent in action.
On 28 February, pupils from Casa Azul International School enthusiastically took part in the FIRST LEGO League Canarias, an event that brought together 75 teams from across the archipelago at the iconic César Manrique Lecture Theatre at the University of La Laguna.
The school was represented in two categories, Explorer and Challenge, facing a demanding evaluation process based on three fundamental pillars: the innovation project, the robot game and the FIRST LEGO League values. Beyond the competition, this type of experience provides a unique opportunity for pupils to develop key 21st-century skills.
Taking part in robotics and programming challenges promotes STEAM learning, but above all, it strengthens essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, effective communication and teamwork. Throughout the day, the students demonstrated remarkable adaptability, creativity and leadership, putting into practice values such as respect, cooperation and a spirit of self-improvement.
The results achieved reflect both the students’ effort and commitment:
- In the Challenge category, the team was awarded the prize for Best Robot Design, also achieving a commendable 5th place in the overall standings.
- In the Explorer category, the younger students stood out with the ‘Little Creatives’ award and recognition for ‘Core Values’, highlighting their excellent teamwork and collaborative attitude.
This achievement not only highlights the students’ technical skills but also their personal growth. The FIRST LEGO League thus establishes itself as an educational environment where students learn by doing, share ideas and tackle real-world challenges, preparing them for a future in which innovation and human skills will be equally essential.
