It is with great pleasure that Agora Madrid International School hosts this year’s UN International Jazz Day. The event will be held entirely online and participating schools will see that there is a wide range of opportunities in both English and Spanish for students aged 9 and upwards.

General Goals
Jazz as an art form holds special significance in the calendar of events organized by the United Nations and ISA proudly recognises this, The goal of this event is to explore Music, History, Sociology and to unite students across borders through the language of Music.
Specific Goals
- Students will engage in up to four different online workshops with well known names from the world of Jazz, as well as performance opportunities.
- The workshops will focus on particular techniques used in Jazz music and the history of jazz as a unique art form.
Programme
Following a brief opening ceremony on the day itself, participants will be invited to enter one of the digital platforms or “rooms” hosted by a wide range of well known names in the world of Music and Jazz in particular :

The age range for this workshop is from 15 upwards, it will be held in English. Anyone who does not have a command of the guitar will be more than welcome as an audience member.

This will be the final event where absolutely anyone (with prior notice of intention to participate) can perform a jazz piece through song and/or instrumental offering so that we can celebrate the wonder of a real Jazz Session, the universal language of Music. As such all languages will be welcome.

Speakers

Carolina Becerra
Graduate in Music Education Teaching at the Complutense University of Madrid (2001). More than 13 years of experience as a teacher of music, Spanish language and mathematics in kindergarten, primary and secondary school.

Noelia García-Calderón
An artist with extensive profesional and teaching experience. She have a bachelor´s degree in viola at “Eduardo Martinez Torner” conservatory of music, Oviedo (2017) and degree in Education at UNIR. She is currently teching at Agora Madrid International School where she have teaching responsabilities included violín instruction and music education for ES, among other artistic responsabilities as performer.

Txema Cariñena
Currently in the musical COMPANY by Antonio Banderas and music teacher at the International Baccalaureate specialized in Performing Arts at Sing and Dance Project Víctor Ullate and Agora Madrid International School

Inma Mira
She is currently participating in the musical “The Madison Bridges” at the Gran Vía in Madrid.

Isabel López
Orchestra Conductor born in Madrid, she studied music at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid. She finished with the highest qualification, obtaining the titles of Superior Professor of Orchestra Conducting, Superior Professor of Solfeggio, Music Theory, Transposition and Accompaniment, Professor of Harmony, Counterpoint, Composition and Instrumentation and Professor of Piano, Master of Orchestra and Choir Conducting, Master of Music Management and Promotion.
