INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

The United Nations marks 3 December as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities to promote understanding, inclusion, and respect for the dignity of people with disabilities.

General goals

  • To celebrate the abilities, talents, and voices of persons with disabilities.
  • To foster understanding, empathy, and respect within school communities.
  • To inspire students to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable world.

Event Background

The United Nations marks 3 December as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities to promote understanding, inclusion, and respect for the dignity of people with disabilities. This year’s initiative is led by Swostishree Gurukul (Nepal) and supported by ISA member schools worldwide. The event aims to raise awareness through creativity and empathy, encouraging students to express how societies can become more inclusive and accessible for all.

How to Participate

Until December 1st 2025, schools and students are invited to submit either:
🎥 a short video (maximum 1 minute) — or —
📸 a photo accompanied by a brief caption or message
describing inclusion, accessibility, or the experiences of people with disabilities.

You may show something your school, classroom, or community is doing to support people with disabilities, or share a personal story, creative message, or artwork that promotes empathy, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all.

Participants

Submissions can be individual or collective (class, school, or team entries). Selected works will be featured on ISA website.

How to Participate

  • Schools should do prior work with a group of students in order to participate effectively.
  • At least some idea of  Human Rights across the world and a little bit of rhetorical/persuasive devices (not essential like the prior research). 

  • There could be listeners/ inactive guests.
