La Orotava, 26th October 2025 —
Last Friday, Casa Azul International School held an educational day dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), involving all students from Year 1 of Primary to Year 1 of Sixth Form in a learning experience that goes beyond knowledge, promoting key skills for personal and social development.
Organised by the teaching team, the activity aimed not only to introduce students to the 17 SDGs established by the UN, but also to foster cross-cutting skills such as critical thinking, empathy, teamwork, effective communication and social responsibility. These skills are essential for young people to proactively address global challenges such as poverty, climate change, social justice and responsible consumption.
During the day, the different educational levels participated in activities designed for their age groups: interactive workshops, debates, presentations, artistic activities, and creative exhibitions. The younger groups worked on the Sustainable Development Goals related to Zero Hunger, No Poverty, Good Health and Well-being, and Affordable and Clean Energy, while strengthening skills such as empathy (Zero Hunger), solidarity and social responsibility (No Poverty), self-care and resilience (Good Health and Well-being), as well as critical thinking and innovation (Affordable and Clean Energy). Older students, meanwhile, delved deeper into issues of social justice and climate action, strengthening leadership, problem-solving and informed decision-making skills.
The purpose of this workshop is to raise a critical and caring awareness in students, as well as to promote skills such as empathy and communication that enable them to act with commitment in their environment.
This initiative reflects the commitment of Colegio Internacional Casa Azul to a comprehensive and transformative education that not only imparts knowledge but also shapes citizens capable of actively contributing to a more just, equitable and sustainable world.
