Andrew McEwen holds a DipEd in Postgraduate Studies in Educational Administration and an MA in Organisation, Planning and Management in Education. After teaching at two primary schools in England, in !979 Andrew became Head of the Colegio Colombo Britanico’s Primary School in Cali, Colombia. From 1985-92 he was Head of The English School of the Andes, a K-12 private, coeducational and bilingual school with 750 students in Cali. .
From 1995 to 1999 Andrew served as the Headmaster of the SEK International School Panama in Panama City and following this he became Vice-President for US Development with SEK in the United States overseeing the acquisition and transfer of Boca Raton Preparatory School, in Florida.
From 2001 until June 2017 he was a Director of, and consultant for, new projects with IES (International Education Systems Limited) and from 2012 was also the Chairman of the company, responsible for the development of schools in new markets. Acquisitions included three schools in South Africa, three schools in the UK, and schools in Slovenia and Italy, where he was responsible for supervision of transition of management and the implementation of new programmes such as the I.B.
Andrew is currently the Managing Director of his own International Education Consultancy company, advising on all aspects of international education, including advising Aleph/Gresol American International School on its academic programmes.
He has been a Trustee and Director of three independent schools in the UK and two in South Africa and is a member of BELMAS (British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration Society), a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) , and since 2012 he has been a member of the Board of the International Schools Association (ISA). He is a fluent Spanish speaker.
